Use Red Wine to Tie Dye Cloth

You can make beautiful tie-dye cloth with red wine.

1. Empty the wine into a baking pan.

2. Create a tie-dye pattern for your cloth with rubber bands, clips, or twine. You can scrunch, fold or band the fabric to make any number of patterns.

3. Immerse the tied fabric into the wine and allow it to absorb the color for 20 minutes. You may need to turn the fabric over or around to saturate it.

4. Rinse the shirt in cold water until the water runs mostly clear.

5. Hang the shirt up to dry.

6. Use a dye-setting solution (for example, Retayne Color Fixative, available for a couple of dollars) to bind the color.

7. If you use the cloth for clothing, wash only in cold water.

Red-wine tie dye is suitable for clothing, crafts, and paper hobbies!
