Use cardboard for compost

When your cardboard boxes get too broken down to use, remove all of the non-paper parts (tape, labels, etc.), shred them and put them on your compost pile. Once it has decomposed it makes a nice supplement to your soil.

If you are growing vegetables in your garden, you may want to stick with brown, uncolored cardboard boxes to keep the dyes from getting into your soil.
